Support the our Community Outreach Manager with prep, facilitation, and clean up for this art activity and book giveaway!

Here are details about the event/workshop: Waterville Creates, in partnership with the Waterville Public Library and Colby College, is thrilled to present a multi-venue family-friendly event on Saturday, March 16. From 10–11am the library, located at 73 Elm Street, will host a read aloud activity of The Pigeon Will Ride the Roller Coaster by Mo Willems. Pigeon himself will be in attendance and will give away free copies of the book while supplies last. After the reading, Pigeon will flutter from the library to the Paul J. Schupf Arts Centerat 93 Main Street to lead a free group art-making activity from Willems’ book, We Are in an Art-ivity Book! from 11:30–1:30pm. Pigeon will distribute free copies of the Art-ivity book on a first-come, first-served basis. All are welcome!

  • We are anticpating 100+ patrons to attend the event during the timeframe, to partake in the art activity. Due to the size of the event, please wear your lavender Waterville Creates volunteer t-shirt. If you do not have one, you will receive one upon arrival.
  • Tasks will include: setting up tables, chairs, and stanchions, throughout the first floor of the Art Center and on the Ticonic Classroom, so please make sure you wear comfortable shoes and are prepared to more furniture.
  • During the event, you will be assigned to a section to assist in supporting the art activity, or assigned to our book giveaway table. 
  • There will also be a time when the Pigeon makes an appearance and patrons are able to take photos on a red carpet with him!
